Biography
Dick Swaab grew up on Maplewild Ave. SW in Burien. He attended Lake Burien Elementary, Seahurst Junior High and graduated from Highline High School. After graduation, Dick was hired at King County Water District #20, where he worked for 40 years. He began his career reading water meters, but over time, he performed various field work, eventually advancing to Superintendent of Field Operations. He was later appointed General Manager, a position he held until his retirement in 2018.
As General Manager of Water District #20, Dick focused on providing the highest quality service to customers at reasonable rates – a philosophy that aligns perfectly with the goals of Southwest Suburban Sewer District. With his years of experience in both the community and water utility, Dick is uniquely qualified to serve the ratepayers of the District.
